A Separate Reality (Anguilines) is a collaboration between Houston-based Anguilu’s iconic street art and Knapps’ light and sound installations, telling a story of time, identity, and natural resilience. Oscillating between dark and light, raw and processed, Dionysian emotion and Apollonian law, this work channels ancestral rhythm and art practices through the lens of contemporary technology.

Knapps uses images of Anguilu‘s murals to train a custom low-rank adaptation model (LoRA) to blend street painting with machine learning. The vibrant works of Anguilu, which have become a staple of Houston’s arts and culture, reach a second degree of movement with this machine-learning driven show of sound and light.
